Zeebo F.C. Foot Camp
Timeline: 2010
Platform: Zeebo (BREW)
The Game: This game is a prequel to Zeebo F.C. Super League, launched six months before the later to be the first title supporting the Zeebois avatar system for the Zeebo console in Brazil. The title is a collection of soccer mini-games similar to console games from the past that were once very popular in the country. Buffs and funny power-ups spice the experience up, such as turning the goalie into a chicken or calling aliens to abduct opponents.
The mini-games are:
- Goal Scoring: score from the penalty mark. Points are awarded for goals scored and multiplied by consecutive goals scored.
- Free Kick: the player has to score a free kick against wind speed, goalie position, goal direction and barrier.
- Dribble: the player has to type a sequence of buttons displayed on screen to perform dribbles.
- Juggle: in this game, the player has to keep the ball in the air as long as possible, using his feet, knees and head to bump it.
All games are compatible with Zeebo's motion controller accessory, the Boomerang.
My Contributions
This game is the first to use Zeebois, the player avatar system for Zeebo. The idea was to launch both at the same time, with Zeeboids as a free app for every Zeebo owner, and Foot Camp as a low cost initial title to get them more engaged with the Zeebo ecosystem.
To that end, everything in the game is inherently built for couch-multiplayer, so players would invite their friends to play together and get to know their new console. Multiplayer was designed to be a competition in turns for points (Free Kick, Dribble, Juggle) and directly against each other in real time (Goal Scoring).
