The Elder Scrolls: Blades

Timeline: 2017 to 2021
Platform: Mobile (iOS and Android), Nintendo Switch
The Game: the "Elder Scrolls in your pocket" experience, this game pushed the bar in terms of quality and production values compared of nearly any other free-to-play mobile game at the time. It monetized in a similar fashion to other mobile action RPGs, and earned a fan base around its compelling PvP mode.
My Contributions:
- Design of data tracking: My experience with data analysis, game design and the limitations of our internal BI database provided me a good perspective to lead the design and documentation of every tracking event in the game;
- Data engineering: working with other engineers to build a single Databricks pipeline with which all player and product data would be ingested into Parquet files and Delta tables;
- Data analysis: working primarily with Databricks notebooks, my work was to help game designers balance items and analyze the metagame in PvE and PvP modes, as well as help product managers to find insights from sales of bundle packs and promotions. Used Spark SQL, Python, Pandas, Statsmodel;
- Data visualization and ad-hoc reports using Seaborn, MatPlotLib and Tableau;
- Data science: running Machine Learning and dimensionality reduction models to evaluate the metagame around selection of skills and legendary items;
- Coded a library of Python functions to facilitate common data transformations, wrangling and enrichment.
