Armies & Ants

Timeline: 2013
Platform: Mobile (iOS and Android)
The Game: A real-time, mid-core, asynchronous PvP strategy game for mobile from 2013. Back in 2012 and 13, there was a wave of these types of game led by the overwhelming success of Clash of Clans. There were a lot of clones and derivations of Clash over the years.
Armies & Ants was one such attempt, trying to surf in the wave of popularity of this genre, but with its unique spin with:
■ Commanding Heroes as a main attack force
■ Full control of your Armies and Heroes when attacking other players
■ Live Ant Queen that protects herself and the Colony
In the years thereafter the figure of a powerful hero would become widespread - including in Clash of Clans - but I find cool that the team behind A&A was trying to do that before it became "a thing", based instead on their cherished memories with games like Starcraft and Warcraft 3.
My Contributions:
- Game design;
- Game economy design: I balanced the economy, the resource flows and soft-currency costs of buildings, units, etc.
